Modification of Child Support or Alimony. Key Benefits
CapabilitiesDivorce settlement agreement provisions for child support or alimony generally can be modified. The basic requirement, is a substantial change in circumstances. For example, a Father's loss of a job and taking temporary employment at reduced earnings might qualify for a reduction in child support. In order to effect this change, he would file a Supplemental Petition to Modify Child Support. Other types of modifications are those which seek a change in the custodial parent. Changes in visitation schedules can also be requested of the court. The Divorce & Bankruptcy Center can assist you in preparing the necessary documents for these types of court actions. Additional information about Modifications can be found at the following web site. http://www.flcourts.org/ The Divorce & Bankruptcy Center is not a law firm, and cannot provide you with legal advice. Go to Child Support to see if your current child support payment is realistic based upon your earnings and your former spouses earnings. If the new child support amount is 15% or $50.00 ( which ever is greater) you might consider a "Modification of Child Support".
